Prayer for Week of Christian Unity 2024 – "You shall love the Lord your God… and your neighbor as yourself," from the Gospel of Luke 10:27 I think this post from a devotional serves as an excellent basis for a Prayer for the Week of Christian Unity 2024: "You shall love the Lord your God… and your neighbor as yourself," from the Gospel of Luke 10:27. Please join us in praying together as One Body of Christ, the Church, in this devotional prayer and also the prayer added below that, regarding this post I received from the daily devotional I subscribe to, the CQOD, Christian Quotation of the Day, which is highly recommended as the best online source of quotations for Christian unity I know of. Christian Quotation of the Day Monday, January 22, 2024 Meditation: Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. --2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NIV) _______________________________________________________________ Quotation: It is possible [through prayer] for the most obscure person in a church, with a heart right toward God, to exercise as much power for the evangelization of the world, as it is for those who stand in the most prominent positions. ... Amen and amen! Lord, make straight and smooth the road of those who bear good news to the world; please gracious Lord, smooth the road of all those repentant, mutually loving, and all-forgiving believers, in every Christian denomination and faith group, who unite in telling the world that the good news to live by is found by all us believers in the very same, one, single place: in the words that are Spirit and Life in the Spirit that Jesus called "my words", meaning every word the Bible records that proceeded from the mouth of God in Jesus of Nazareth, the Son whom God sent to Earth to live in God's perfection, and die in God's astounding self-sacrificial love for all in the world, and then live again, to ascend to all power in Heaven and Earth now and forever, so that all people can learn to live by those words He gives to us believers right now, to be heard spoken in our hearts directly from the mouth of God, Himself, the One Spirit of God called the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in the name of Jesus for repentance and forgiveness of sins, sent to live in our mutually loving, all-forgiving, repentant hearts to recall there to our memory those very words Jesus spoke in the Bible which we keep as our part of our covenant with God, kept now written on our hearts so we can hear His voice in them to live by 24/7 in every situation life throws at us, Whose voice is first and forever heard in the heart of each and every lamb in God's One Flock on Earth, the Church, calling us all to repent and believe the good news of forgiveness we receive as much as we forgive all who sin against us, received in the kingdom that emanates from our hearts where the One King lives, Who is the very same One, Good Shepherd whose voice calls us all, in whom the Father and Son are one Spirit of the All-powerful God, united with us in One Flock on Earth and forever in Heaven, in One Flock of One Spirit, of self-sacrificial love for every believer, which love we can only return to God in our obedience, to every word that proceeded from the mouth of God as recorded in the Bible was spoken by Jesus of Nazareth for all people to live by. “26 He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" 27 And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."” (Lu 10:26-27 ESV) “36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" 37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."” (Mt 22:36-40 ESV) “17 ¶ "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” (Mt 5:17-18 ESV) Lord, give every believer in the world to hear Your words saying that all of us Christians who truly believe in Jesus start uniting in every word Jesus spoke in the Bible when we start obeying the first and second most important commandments of God which are now to be obeyed in the way that the new commandment of Jesus says, which is to love one another believers self-sacrifically, as Jesus and the Father loved us in that same, one, self-sacrificial Spirit, now making full the old law because that new commandment by Jesus allows us to love in the greatest way commanded, to love not only God and one another believers, but also in the second greatest way commanded, which is to love all our neighbors in the world, including our enemies, in the very best way possible we would want for ourselves, which is to let the world know that God sent Jesus to save themselves, too, in the same way God saved every one of us who believe in Jesus already, by saving any and all in the world who will hear the voice of the One, Good Shepherd calling them to repent and believe the good news of forgiveness of our sins as much as we forgive all who sin against us, so we can all live now and forever in the free gift to us which we cannot possibly earn for ouselves, which is the right-standing righteousness and holiness of the all-powerful, all-merciful, fantastic love and protection from all evil, given to us by the One God Who is all Love now and forever, and Who has all power in Heaven and Earth, to make good all His promises to give all good things in this life, and even more good things than we can possibly imagine in the fullness of the glory in His presence in the next life, to any and all who love God back by our obedience in seeking to live by every word recorded in the Bible that proceeded from the mouth of Jesus of Nazareth, Whose name, Jesus, means the One Who Saves His People, and is also named Word, because His spoken words once and for as long as God in Heaven may choose, spoke the universe into existence, and in speaking the good news, gospel from His mouth on Earth, also spoke His Church, the One Flock, and each and all of His Eternal sheep who will hear and come into it, into existence once and forever, and ever, by His spoken words that also last forever. “35 Sky and earth will wear out; my words won’t wear out. 36 "But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven’s angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.” (Mt 24:35-36 Message) “1 ¶ Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." 4 But he answered, "It is written, "’Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"” (Mt 4:1-4 ESV) “And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.” (Mt 9:35 ESV) “7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” (Joh 15:7-8 ESV) “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” (Joh 6:63 ESV) “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (Joh 14:26 ESV) “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Jer 31:33 ESV) “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Heb 8:10 ESV) “20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. 21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.” “60:1 ¶ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” (Isa 59:20-60:2 AV) “22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” (Joh 17:22-23 ESV) “15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again.” (Joh 10:15-17 ESV) “12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.” (Joh 15:12-14 ESV) “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.” (1Jo 3:16 ESV)This message has been edited.
